Registration and
Cookies
Registration is required
(a unique username and email address only) if you wish to access our
free resources and forums available at
www.themusicland.co.uk/community. Within this area of the site,
cookies are used - this is a small harmless text file written to
your computer in order that you can bypass the login process on
future visits. We derive absolutely no financial benefit from the
setting of this cookie and have no means of extracting any
additional personal information from you (except any that you choose
to enter in your optional site profile).
Newsletter
By registering with the resources/forums section (as above), you
agree to subscribe to our newsletter regarding site updates, and
items of interest within the world of music education. This
newsletter is delivered most weeks, and you may unsubscribe from it
at any stage (whilst retaining your membership of the site). Your
default mail settings can be changed from the "my controls" section
of the site - the box that says "send me updates from the board
administrator" would need to be unchecked.
Privacy of
your email address
You may choose whether or
not you wish other members to have the facility of contacting you
through the website. Even if you choose to allow this option,
contact is made via a web form and your email address is therefore
not revealed to the other user. Please be aware that any messages
you send via this system are stored in a board log - whilst these
are not actively checked, they are available to the administrators
in the unlikely event of a user complaint.
Your email address and any other
data you choose to make available is stored securely in a mySQL
database, and your data will not be sold, passed to or exchanged
with any other company. The only theoretical exception to this is in
the unlikely event of The MusicLand changing ownership.
Password
Access
Your user account with The
MusicLand is password-protected for your own security. If you forget
your password or username, there is a facility for retrieving it via
your email address on the site. If you have difficulty with this,
please email
help@themusicland.co.uk and we can reset your password and tell
you your username (providing you know with which email address it
was registered). For your security passwords are encrypted, and the
site administrators have no access to your password - it can only be
reset in the way outlined above. You should therefore never reveal
your password to anyone claiming to represent The MusicLand.
You are responsible for the
security and use of your own account; if you are using a shared
computer, please ensure that you "log out" rather than asking to be
"remembered" for future visits.
Removal
from Database
If you want your user
account to be completely cancelled - and your username/email address
removed from the database, please email
info@themusicland.co.uk
with your username/email address and we will perform this operation
before the next newsletter.
